Operation
Whenever the stop command (6-9) and the alternation command (6-8) (ALT) close, the output relays (1-3) and (1-4) arm alternately, only turning off when the stop control (6-9) opens. If the simultaneity command (6-7) closes, the relay causes the two outputs (1-3) and (1-4) to remain closed simultaneously. If any of the commands (6-8) (ALT) or (6-7) (YES) are reopened, nothing changes and the two relays remain closed until the command (6-9) opens. Whenever the alarm command (6-11) closes, the output (1-5) is activated intermittently and the simultaneity command (6-7) is activated, if this is not activated due to a default in the installation.

In order to avoid hydraulic shocks, the relay has a device that delays the cut-off or start-up of the second electric pump by approximately 2s, even if the simultaneity command has been carried out together with the alternation command.

The RA23A relay is a model that will soon be withdrawn from production and may be replaced by the new RA25A multifunction alternation relay model.
