CALEFFI Automatic Air Vents

Automatic air vents perform the function of eliminating, without the need for manual intervention, the air that accumulates inside the circuits of air conditioning installations.

This prevents the emergence of negative phenomena that could harm the durability and performance of the thermal installation, such as:

• Corrosive processes due to oxygen;
• Air pockets located in the radiators;
• Cavitation phenomena in circulators.

Operating principle

The accumulation of air bubbles in the valve body causes the float to descend and, consequently, the shutter to open. This phenomenon and the correct operation of the valve are only guaranteed when the water pressure remains below the maximum discharge pressure.

Construction particularities

Hygroscopic cap A hygroscopic safety cap is available for all MINICAL® and VALCAL® series. The operating principle is based on the properties of the cellulose fibre discs that form the sealing cartridge. These discs increase their volume by 50% when they come into contact with water, thus closing the valve. This prevents possible damage in the event of water leaks.
